A brain tumor refers to an abnormal growth of cells within the brain. Tumors can be either benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous). They can arise from the brain itself (primary brain tumor) or can spread to the brain from other parts of the body (secondary or metastatic brain tumor).
The exact cause of brain tumors is still unknown, but there are some risk factors that have been identified, such as exposure to certain chemicals or radiation, family history of brain tumors, and certain genetic disorders.
