Esthesioneuroblastoma, also known as olfactory neuroblastoma, is a rare type of cancer that develops in the nasal cavity. It arises from the specialized nerve cells called olfactory neuroepithelial cells, which are responsible for the sense of smell.
Esthesioneuroblastoma typically affects adults, with an average age of diagnosis around 45 years old. The exact cause of this cancer is unknown, but it is thought to result from mutations in certain genes.
