Ewing sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that primarily affects the bones or soft tissues surrounding the bones. It most commonly occurs in children and young adults, although it can occur at any age. Ewing sarcoma is named after Dr. James Ewing, who first described the condition.
Causes of Ewing sarcoma are not entirely understood, but it is thought to involve a genetic mutation that causes cells in the bones or soft tissues to grow and divide in an uncontrolled way.
