Childhood extracranial germ cell tumors are tumors that develop from germ cells, which are special cells that make reproductive eggs in females or sperm in males. These tumors usually occur outside the brain and can develop in various parts of the body such as the ovaries, ****s, mediastinum (area between the lungs), retroperitoneum (area behind the abdomen), or sacrococcygeal region (near the tailbone).
