Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) are a group of rare blood disorders characterized by excessive production of mature blood cells in the bone marrow. This results in an increased number of red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets in the bloodstream.
The three main types of MPNs are:
1. Polycythemia vera (PV): This condition involves the overproduction of red blood cells, leading to thickening of the blood and increased risk of blood clotting.
