Prostate cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in the prostate, a small walnut-shaped gland that produces seminal fluid in men. It is one of the most common types of cancer in men and typically develops slowly, often not causing symptoms until it has reached an advanced stage.

Risk factors for prostate cancer include age (it is more common in older men), family history of prostate or breast cancer, race (African-American men are at higher risk), and certain genetic factors.
