Kaposi's sarcoma is a rare form of cancer that typically affects the skin and mucous membranes. It is caused by the human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8), also known as Kaposi's sarcoma- ****ociated herpesvirus (KSHV).
Kaposi's sarcoma most commonly occurs in people with weakened immune systems, such as those with HIV/AIDS or those who have undergone organ transplants and are taking immunosuppressive drugs. In these individuals, the cancer may spread to other organs, including the lungs, liver, or gastrointestinal tract.
