Ovarian germ cell tumors are a type of ovarian cancer that originates from the cells that produce the eggs in the ovaries. These tumors are typically divided into two main subtypes: dysgerminomas and non-dysgerminomas.
Dysgerminomas: Dysgerminomas are the most common subtype of ovarian germ cell tumors and tend to occur in women in their late teens or early twenties. They are typically slow-growing and have a relatively good prognosis. Dysgerminomas are composed of large, undifferentiated cells resembling primordial germ cells.
