More NHL Offseason: | | | The announced Monday that Bryan Murray, general manager and president of hockey operations for the club, was recently diagnosed with cancer. He will remain with the team while undergoing treatment. :Mr. Murray is undergoing further testing and will T. J. Leaf Jersey begin treatment immediately for this condition as prescribed by the teams doctors in collaboration with specialists.Mr. Murrays treatment schedule may require him to be away from the Senators office periodically. During his periodic absence, a sistant general managers Pierre Dorion and Randy Lee will be responsible for managing the Ottawa Senators hockey operations department.On behalf of Reggie Miller Jersey the entire Senators family, the team is asking that the thoughts, prayers and support of the entire hockey community are with Bryan and his family.The 71-year-old executive has been Senators general manager since 2007, but his NHL career spans nearly 33 years. Twenty of those years included seasons as a general manager with the Senators, , and . Murray has also spent 18 years coaching in the Myles Turner Jersey league and most recently served as the Senators head coach from 2005 to 2007 with another brief stint in the 2007-08 campaign. He also spent time as a head coach with the , Red Wings, Panthers and Ducks.He never played in the NHL, but spent four years as the athletic director at renowned McGill University, which is where he attended school.Murray worked his way from the bottom up with coaching stints in the Central Junior Hockey League and Western Hockey Malcolm Brogdon Jersey League before he led the American Hockey Leagues Hershey Bears as head coach for one season. He was hired by the Caps that following year. Murray won the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's coach of the year in 1983-84.With such a long career, Murray is one of the most respected executives in the game. He has faced some challenging years in Ottawa having to deal with the T.J. McConnell Jersey departures of stars like and most recently . Murrays toughest battle is ahead of him, however. Having the aid of Dorion, who has been with the team of seven seasons and Lee, who has been part of the Senators organization for 19 seasons will certainly keep the Sens on track in terms of the on-ice product, but the thoughts of all of those in hockey will remain primarily focused on Murray and his health.
