It feels like just yesterday the Golden Knights lifted the franchise's first-ever Stanley Cup. However, the NHL is already moving on to next season. The 2023-24 schedule has been released, with 1,213 total games mapped out from October to April. There are a plethora of marquee matchups and events that will take place throughout the campaign, from outdoor events to rivalry nights to games played overseas. First, it's the Lightning hosting the Predators early in the afternoon. Then it's Connor Bedard's likely NHL debut as the Blackhawks travel to face Sidney Crosby and the Penguins. Key dates for 2023-24 NHL season September 23-24:NHL Global Series Melbourne The NHL's first major event in 2023-24 will happen before the start of the regular season. As a part of the 2023 NHL Global Series, the league is headed down under, as there will be two preseason games played in Melbourne, Australia. It's the first time the NHL is making its way to Australia. The Kings and Coyotes will play two preseason games at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. October 10:NHL Opening Night The 2023-24 NHL regular season kicks off on Tuesday, Oct. 10 with a triple header on ESPN, headlined by Connor Bedard vs. Sidney Crosby and the Golden Knights banner Raymond Johnson Iii Jersey -raising ceremony. October 29:2023 NHL Heritage Cla sic After no Heritage Cla sic last season, the outdoor Canadian event is back in 2023. It will be the Battle of Alberta taking place at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, home of the CFL's Edmonton Elks, as the Flames and Oilers face off in the 2023 Heritage Cla sic on Sunday, Oct. 29. November 16-19:NHL Global Series Sweden The second part of the 2023 NHL Global Series takes place in Sweden, as the Red Wings, Senators, Wild and Maple Leafs all are headed to Stockholm in mid-November. Detroit faces Ottawa on Thursday, Nov. 16, then it's Detroit vs. Toronto on Friday, Nov. 17. Ottawa and Minnesota will play on Saturday, Nov. 18 before Minnesota vs. Toronto wraps up the Global Series action on Sunday, Nov. 19. All four contest will be played at Avicii Arena. December 23:Stanley Cup Final rematch The Golden Knights will raise their Stanley Cup banner much earlier in the season, however, the rematch of the 2023 Stanley Cup Final is set for Saturday, Dec. 23, with the Panthers hosting the defending champions. January 1:2024 NHL Winter Cla sic The second outdoor event on the 2023-24 schedule is the 2024 Winter Cla sic. The annual New Year's Day event is headed to the Pacific Northwest, as the Kraken will host the Golden Knights at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, the home of the MLB's Seattle Mariners. It is the first Winter Cla sic for both clubs. February 2-3:2024 NHL All-Star Weekend The league takes its break the first week of February, as All-Star Weekend is scheduled to take place Friday, Feb. 2, and Saturday, Feb. 3. There will be no games from Thursday, Feb. 1 to Sunday, Feb. 4, with the schedule resuming on Monday, Feb. 5. This year's All-Star Weekend will be held in Toronto at Scotiabank Arena. February 17-18:2024 NHL Stadium Series The NHL continues its outdoor events with two Stadium Series contests at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. On Saturday, Feb. 17, the Desmond Noel Jersey Devils and Flyers will take part in the first of two games. The next day, Sunday, Feb. 18, it will be the Rangers and Islanders facing off. April 18:End of regular season The final day of the 2023-24 regular season is set for Thursday, April 18. There will be six games on the date, with Kings vs. Blackhawks scheduled as the last matchup.
