NHL Daily Picks Bruins feeling heat ahead of big game against Lightning

With both teams coming off of consecutive lo ses, the Blues and Red Wings should be awfully hungry for the two points one of them will be coming away with Sunday afternoon. The Blues remain tied with the Nashville Predators for first place in the Central, while the Red Wings are just three points clear of the Boston Bruins and four ahead of the Ottawa Senators for third place in the suddenly tight Atlantic Division race. The last time these two clubs met, scored in the waning seconds of overtime to give the Wings a 3-2 win. Datsyuk's Stan Mikita Jersey status for Sunday is uncertain, however. He has been out the past two games with a lower-body injury and is questionable. The Blues will be at a slight handicap as well though, having a tight turnaround after a disappointing 6-3 lo s to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. The former Central Division rivals have a lot to play for Sunday afternoon and they'll do it under the national spotlight as well. Pick: Red Wings 3, Blues 2 The Bruins' behinds are getting a little toasty and it's not because of sitting out in the Florida sun for too long. Boston has just a one-point advantage on the surging Senators Andrew Shaw Jersey and are three ahead of the Panthers, who downed the Bruins 2-1 in a shootout Saturday, for the last wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, the Bruins are still in striking distance of hopping into third place in the Atlantic Division as they trail the Red Wings by just three points. On the other side of the ice, the Lightning are pretty comfortably in second place in the Atlantic. They're four points behind the Canadiens for the top spot and have consecutive wins over Atlantic Division foes. Sending the Bruins packing without a point benefits Tampa Bay in that it could contribute to knocking Boston out of the playoff picture. The experience level on this roster makes the B's dangerous if they do get into the postseason and since they're only a stone's throw away from the third spot, they could be a potential first-round opponent for Tampa if they can start winning. The Bruins have handled the Lightning pretty well so far with a pair of one-goal wins over Sunday's host in the previous two meetings between the two clubs. It doesn't get any bigger than the one they're about to play though. The Lighting were one of the few teams off Saturday, so that could end up going in their favor. Pick: Lightning 3, Bruins 1 How's this for a Sunday night treat? The Ducks and Rangers are two of the best teams by record in the NHL at this late stage of the season. Anaheim has a shot to take sole po se sion of first place in the league, while a Rangers regulation win would put them atop the three-way tie for first place in the league standings. As far as stakes in a cro s-conference game go, helping the cause to earn home ice throughout the playoffs is a pretty big deal. The last time these two teams got together, the Rangers took care of the Ducks in Anaheim with a 4-1 win. Both squads have seven wins over their past 10 games, with the Rangers earning a 3-2 win over Carolina in a shootout Saturday. The Ducks were idle Saturday and will carry a four Alex Zhamnov Jersey -game winning streak into Madison Square Garden. There's plenty of intrigue in this big matchup of league titans. Pick: Rangers 2, Ducks 1 With the Los Angeles Kings and Calgary Flames idle, the Canucks have a golden opportunity to pick up two more points to tighten their grip on second place in the Pacific Division. Arizona has been the worst team in the NHL since February, e sentially. In fact, the Coyotes have lost 17 of 18 games. In that wide sea of lo ses since mid-February, though, the solitary win came against the Canucks -- via the shootout. Given that little tidbit, don't expect the Canucks to take the Coyotes lightly. That said, Arizona's recent stretch of Bryan Bickell Jersey games has been putrid. The Coyotes have scored a grand total of nine goals in nine contests in March. They scored more than one goal in only one game over that stretch, that 3-2 shootout win over Vancouver. The Canucks are coming off of a big 4-1 win over the Kings on Saturday, so taking their foot off the gas isn't an option. It could be a big night for Vancouver's top producers. Pick: Canucks 5, Coyotes 2 1. , Vancouver Canucks: Currently riding a three-game point streak (two goals, two a sists), Daniel is leading brother and the rest of the Canucks with 62 points. Hes hot right now and the Coyotes are so very cold.2. , Detroit Red Wings: The Red Wings captain has 10 points over his past 10 games, but none in his past two. Wither a former Central Division foe in town, one that Zetterberg has carved up over his career, look for the 34-year-old winger to get back on track -- with or without Datsyuk in the lineup. In 60 career games against the Blues, Zetterberg has 66 points, though none came the only other time these two clubs met this season. 3. , New Nolan Allan Jersey York Rangers: The talented offensive defenseman has just one point, a goal, since joining the Rangers ahead of the trade deadline. Sunday marks the first time he'll take on a Pacific Division opponent with his new club. Perhaps that familiarity with Anaheim will help him do some damage. He did have a goal and an a sist against the Ducks in three previous games this season while with Arizona. Over his career, Yandle has 27 points in 36 games against Anaheim.
