Wilms tumor, also known as nephroblastoma, is a rare kidney cancer that primarily affects children. It usually occurs in children between the ages of 2 and 5, and it is rare in older children and adults.
The exact cause of Wilms tumor is unknown, but certain genetic and environmental factors may increase the risk of developing the condition. Some genetic conditions, such as WAGR syndrome and Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, have been linked to an increased risk of Wilms tumor.
